As the world watches the latest developments of this worldwide virus, travel is understandably taking a back seat.
I'm keeping a close eye on tourism in Greece this year and watching how that develops. Until we know more about the vaccinations and how they protect people, I'll be holding off from running tours. Let's make sure we can all be safe. Here's hoping that we'll be able to travel safely sometime in 2022.
BUT, until then let's keep the dream alive! I'm planning a wee online event in September 2021 that I think you just might enjoy... Keep an eye out on facebook and instagram for more details coming soon!
Until then, if you have any questions about Greece flick me an email. I'd be happy to answer your queries.
Check out our social media pages that might help 'keep the dream alive' until then.

I created my boutique tours in early 2018 because I’m passionate about sharing this amazing country with others. But this isn’t your usual sightseeing tour. I want you to experience the people, places and aspects of the culture that tourists generally don’t get to see; things that are simply not possible when you’re part of a large group on a whistle stop tour. From blue waters and sparkling islands, to tiny towns high in the mountains; from the ever-changing faces of the capital city Athens to traditional outdoor tavernas where the sweet fragrance of bougainvillea and jasmine wafts over cobbled streets – I will guide you to the beating heart of Greece so you can FEEL IT, LIVE IT, LOVE IT TOO!
As a fluent Greek speaker who understands the culture intimately, I can unlock for you wonderful, unexpected experiences with locals – creating memories that will stay with you for years. Central to The Heart of Greece boutique tours are my relationships with a select and trusted group of Greek retailers, restaurateurs, guesthouse owners and hoteliers who know me, and understand my vision of sharing another side of Greece with an intimate group.
When I’m travelling, there are few things that I dislike more than having to fit into someone else’s schedule – or being whisked away just as I’m starting to get the feel for a place. With The Heart of Greece tours, you choose how your day will unfold – you can take part in activities we’ve planned or follow your own plan. Perhaps you’d like to immerse yourself in culture at a museum or gallery instead, or bask in the clear waters of an idyllic beach on no one’s timeframe but your own. I’ll help you find the perfect spot, and make the day work for you.
You’ll feel looked after, with the freedom to see the places your way, all the while experiencing a Greece that’s unique and different from the standard tourist package. Contact me through the form below for more detailed information. Let's connect over a pre-arranged call or coffee – or drop me an email if you have any questions.
I hope to see you for the trip of a lifetime in September 2021!
Join us on our next tour in September 2022 (hopefully!) and experience Athens, the Peloponnese and the Greek Isles for 21 days. Something for everyone - beaches, food, iconic landmarks, siestas, even more food and cocktails..
Meteora is one of Greece's most unique places to visit. A UNESCO protected world heritage sight, these rock formations have Byzantine monasteries perched on top, six of which are active today. Spend 2 nights experiencing this spectacular 'other-wordly' landscape followed by 2 nights in fabulous Thessaloniki.
An exciting culinary adventure of Athens, tasting its regional delicacies and experiencing authentic Greek food, secret cafes, and local-only markets and shops. During this tour you'll enjoy a traditionally made Greek coffee, street food, tastings of Greek cheeses and olive oils, and delectable Greek sweets!
"Fab tour. Tania was a great guide with her knowledge and language skills. Travel with a Greek who speaks our language. I found some places I'd like to stay a while, and made some friends for life. Not to mention the food....from city to beachside tavernas."

“I have sat and pondered and am still in awe of just what we did – to say “we really enjoyed it” is a bit of an understatement!
Three weeks did not fly nor did they dawdle but it did provide one of the best holidays my husband and I have had. I think because it was a saturation experience rather than an accelerated tour of key areas.... we just travelled gracefully from place to place and absorbed the experience. Would we do it again? Absolutely....because it was a trip which was not the norm, we saw and experienced the Greek way of doing things. So much to like and so, so repeatable!!!

“I can say it was absolutely amazing...
Tania was knowledgeable,
patient, entertaining and since she spoke fluent Greek and English there were no translation issues.... Fabulous time and real value for money.”

I recently returned to New Zealand after an 80 day, 4 country solo adventure which included Costa Rica, Ecuador, Cuba and Mexico. I was blown away by the history, architecture and people. I had a ball , but I can honestly say that Greece still comes out as my top destination–there's just nowhere quite like it. Of course I am just a little bit biased, but no matter were I've been Greece wins on everything, hands down–the Mediterranean fare, its beauty, its antiquities, its islands, its less-explored mainland full of secret spots of fabulousness, and of course the generosity and hospitality of its people.
As Tom Hanks recently said: 'I’ve been around the world, to beautiful places … none of them tops Greece. The land, the sky, the water, it’s good for the soul; it’s a healing place.'
I’m Greek and I lived in Greece from the mid-1980s to 1995. I caught the travel bug early on and I’ve worked, studied and travelled in many places across the globe, from youth work in Africa and post-graduate study in the USA, to being self-employed in London and to getaways in Europe, latin America and Asia - 36 countries and counting! Home for me for now is Wellington, New Zealand, the ‘coolest capital in the world’!
I created The Heart of Greece boutique tours in 2018. They’re a way for small groups of people to experience the true beating heart of Greece.
As a fluent Greek speaker, I understand Greek culture intimately and this means I can unlock wonderful, unexpected experiences that give you a real feel for Greece – so you can feel it, live it, love it too! I believe in following my dreams and going with my heart – and that’s what The Heart of Greece is all about....expect spontaneous magic, laughter and comradery on tours that could not be more different from the usual package tourist fare. Two years in, I’m seeing another part of my vision unfold:
to create a travel community of friends.
I’d love you to be part of it!
